Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transport AdBlue safely, and what are the options?

While AdBlue is not classified as a hazardous material (67/548/EEC), care should be taken when transporting Adblue due to it’s corrosive properties and reactions to certain compounds and materials such as mild steel, copper or aluminium as well as calcium and sodium hypochlorite.

Consider a dedicated transportation and dispensing tank such as BlueTruckMaster  as a portable solution.

What happens if you put AdBlue in your fuel tank?

AdBlue is a corrosive material and must not be added to the fuel tank. Damage can be caused to the tank and corresponding pipework if mixed. If in the unlikely event AdBlue is accidentally added to a fuel tank seek professional help to drain and flush the AdBlue solution from fuel tank.

Can AdBlue be stored outside?

AdBlue can be stored outside in a dedicated sealed tank, within a temperature range between 0°C and 30°C, and away from direct sunlight.

What is AdBlue?

AdBlue is a liquid solution of urea. When it meets a hot exhaust system it releases ammonia which is a catalyst to a chemical reaction that converts dangerous Nitrogen Oxides into two harmless products – water vapour and Nitrogen.

What is the best way to unload the tank?

Unloading must be carried out with the use of specialized equipment, such as a forklift or crane, slings and belts. To anchor slings, use special fastening points. It is important to make sure that the forks are sufficiently long. Sliding or rolling the tanks is prohibited. Never use projecting parts when lifting or sliding the tanks. Do not place any burdens on walls and roof.

How can we clean the nozzle?

AdBlue can crystalise in the nozzle. You can clean the nozzle by rinsing it with clean, warm water.

How to add power to the BlueMaster?

The tank is delivered without power supply line. A qualified engineer should connect a suitable 230V power line to junction box in the tank cabinet.

For BlueMasters with pumping equipment inside a cabinet, a hole must be drilled in the sidewall of the cabinet to connect the product to an external power source. It is essential that a grommet/gland be used in the sidewall to prevent water ingress into the cabinet and that the hole is located above the lowest edge of the door opening.

How to prime a pump?

230V pumps are self-priming pumps and should not require priming. If the pump fails to prime, please contact our customer service team.
