My unit has not reconnected after a power cut, what do I do?
If your sensor has not reconnected to the receiver unit after 20 minutes please retwin them. Please follow the below re-twinning procedure for the Watchman Alarm.
- If you remove the Watchman unit from the oil tank and look for the black/white spot around the edge inside a u-shaped indentation 90degrees left of the 1cm pipe that protrudes from the side, then look for the black spot on the right-hand side of the plug/receiver.
- Put the plug into the socket and turn power on, a single bar will flash on top of the screen at that stage place the black/white spot on the transmitter from the tank against the receiver's black spot and you should hear a clicking noise and the bars coming up from the bottom of the screen. Hold both units steady for 20 seconds until the screen fills up with bars and flashes to confirm the pairing, at this stage you can refit the transmitter to the tank.
Please allow 2 hours for your first accurate level.
If you don’t hear a clicking noise you may have to angle your hand or move the transmitter slightly up or down until you hear the clicking sound.
If all the bars come on the screen at once, this means the units have not successfully twinned and you will need to retry the procedure again.
How do I read the bar graph level display?
The bar graph represents the level of liquid in your tank. Each bar represents 10% of the fluid height in the tank (not volume).

I am getting the no echo warning, how do I fix this?
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
| No echo reading | The transmitter is not properly aligned with the tank’s content surface. | Re-align the transmitter on the tank. |
| There is condensation on the transmitter horn. | Remove any signs of condensation from the transmitter horn. | |
| The transmitter is mounted close to the tank side wall that it is creating reflections of the ultrasonic beam. | Re-install the transmitter close to the centrer of the tank. | |
| Iniside the tank there are objects/obstacles that are creating reflections of the ultrasonic beam. | Re-install the transmitter away from the tank internal obstacles and the tank side walls. | |
| Tank is full, unit in blind zone, less than 12 cm from the transmitter. | Wait till the oil level drops. | |
| The tank is empty, no liquid in the tank. | The product has been designing to work with liquid, please fill in the tank. |
Why is the alarm triggering on my device?
There are two main reasons why your alarm may be triggering; The Sensor has been installed incorrectly - not leveled or too close to the tank wall or any other obstructions. Your oil supplier has overfilled the tank. In case of point one please refer to your installation instructions to ensure your sensor has been properly fitted.
My levels are incorrect, how do I update my reciever?
Check that you have correctly measured the height of your tank and set up the dip switches on the back of the receiver. The maximum height for our sensors is 3 meters from the base, do not include the outer skin of bunded tanks in this measurement, and no lower than the maximum fill level of your tank.
Why can't i find any information on the Watchman Niveau?
We stopped manufacturing the Watchman Niveau in 2009 and no longer stock replacement parts or batteries. To ensure you continue to benefit from our market leading oil level monitoring systems we recommend that you upgrade to our Watchman Sonic.

I am getting the transmission not heard warning, how do I fix this?
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
| No transmission heard | The distance between the devices are out of the specs. Solution Reduce the distance between the devices. | Reduce the distance between the devices. |
| There are obstacles (thick walls, metals, etc) in the line of sight of the devices. | Install the receiver on a different socket. Try experimenting with trailing sockets that it can be moved freely. | |
| There are reflections caused by metal parts in the viccinity of the line of sight of the devices. |
Why am I still seeing the message 'Awaiting the first reading from this device' after the 24 hour period?
Please contact our customer care team immediately to resolve this issue. It is likely that you entered wrong serial number of the transmitter during registration.
Where can I buy replacment batteries?
We no longer stock replacement batteries as a stand-alone product. However, a new Watchman Alarm comes inclusive with batteries.
If you require a replacement, the Watchman Sonic Battery type is ‘CR2430’ available online from many stockists or the high-street.
My receiver is blank, what do I do?
