PS Energy Group (“PS Energy”) is a leading fuel and lubricant distributor, serving more than a thousand customers across various sectors in Singapore and SE Asia. 

The company was contracted to supply fuel for generators that powered c.1,600 custom made floodlights around the tight and bumpy Marina Bay Street Circuit for an international car race, traditionally held at night.

The distributor also provided the fuel for other generators around the venue. Some of these generators powered the audio/visual equipment deployed on various stages around the track - during the race weekend, these stages played host to concerts featuring some of the biggest names in global music. Other generators powered trackside hospitality tents, activity booths, and food/drink stalls for VIP guests and visitors.

PS Energy’s team had to ensure that diesel in all the generators was topped up on a constant basis during the event, particularly because at least half of them fuelled systems, fixtures, and equipment that were classed as critical to the event’s success. 

One-third of the fuel powering the venue’s generators was biodiesel B7, the remainder was conventional diesel.

In order to monitor fuel levels closely at each location, PS Energy installed the new Kingspan Watchman Radar remote tank telemetry on each of its fuel tanks around 5.067km venue.

The continuous stream of tank level data from the Watchman Radars provided all the information its teams needed to initiate timely top-ups of diesel/biodiesel for each fuel tank, as and when required.

The Radar devices also allowed staff to monitor the fuel consumption patterns at every generator, which meant that they could better plan their daily fuel replenishment schedule during the event.

The Watchman Radar proved consistently accurate in their monitoring, ensuring that the generators were continuously supplied with sufficient fuel.
