Gaughran Brothers Transport Ltd, a general haulage company based in County Meath needed a new ‘smart’ monitoring system to manage its fuel supplies. The company has three onsite fuel tanks to support its fleet of 30 vehicles – two diesel tanks of 20,000 and 40,000 litre capacity and a 5,000 litre AdBlue tank.

Fuel is a major overhead, however, the management system provided no stock level information, often leading to the company either running out of fuel or forced to spot buy, which was expensive.  Staff also had to periodically climb into the tanks – a dangerous undertaking when temperatures dropped below freezing. 

The company decided to install Kingspan Sensor’s Watchman Multi-Tank Pro devices (Watchman Flo now replaces Watchman Multi-Tank Pro) in all three tanks. Information from two Sonic transmitters is now fed to a control unit, which displays stock levels to users both locally and on our KNECT Pro App available for any smartphone.  The real time usage figures provide advice on weekly consumption and ends the need for manual tank dipping.
